District Lottery Procedures: The Anchorage School District uses a lottery system to provide an equal opportunity for students who request participation in an alternative program or school for which the number of applications exceeds the number of available openings. Approval or denial is based on space availability, grade level and gender balance. No student shall be denied participation because of a physical, mental, or learning disability, or special need. Lottery procedures are determined by school board policy 322.3.
- Once notified, parents have two (2) school days to accept or reject the school/program opening.
- To remain on a wait list, parents must notify the school/program of their decision.
- It is the parent’s responsibility to provide updated contact information to the school/program.
Program Information Requirements: Parents will be provided with additional information regarding each program (philosophy, program goals, parental and student commitments that are a part of the particular alternative program guidelines) and any required orientations, information sessions, or visits at the end of the application process.
Parent Responsibility: I understand that I must login to the online lottery system and either accept or decline my seat and/or review the wait list number within two (2) school days after I have been notified of the lottery results.
Transportation: Students enrolled in a lottery program outside of their assigned attendance area will not receive transportation. Transportation is the responsibility of the parent/guardian.
