Clark Middle School is a dynamic and energetic learning community that inspires diverse learners to excel and strive for academic and personal success. Clark is strongly supported by parents, educators and community members who are committed to excellence in academics, attendance and attitude. Our school values individuality; fosters a passion for learning and promotes the enrichment of mind, body and character.
Clark serves students in grades 6-8 through an academically rigorous and challenging curriculum. Students are provided instruction in the four core subjects: math, language arts, science and social studies. The core subjects embrace Socratic Seminar methodologies, which enhances reading comprehension, writing, listening and students’ speaking abilities as well as develops critical thinking skills. In addition, Clark offers many electives: traditional Band, Drum Line, Orchestra, Choir, Family and Consumer Science, Art, Applied Technology, Law Studies, Alaska Native Studies, Spanish, French and Pre Medical courses, which include Anatomy and First Aid. Sports offerings include: Cross Country Running, Flag Football, Volleyball, Basketball, Cross Country Skiing, Wrestling, Alaska Native Olympics, and Track and Field programs. The academic competition portion of Clark Middle Schools program includes: Spelling Bee, Geography Bee, Science Olympiad, Robotics, First Lego League, Math Counts, Battle of the Books, National History Day and Speech and Debate competition, which students can become involved and explore.
Instructional and support services are designed to foster exceptional academic excellence and support for all students. Such services include: gifted, enriched classes, bilingual, Title I services, the Extended Day After School Enrichment Program, special education, migrant education, supplemental services, multimedia technology and participation in Advanced Placement courses.
Clark Middle School continues to be an integral partner in the development of the Mountain View arts and cultural district.
